Indeed ... I seem to be the one that always drifts this blog away into documenting something other than just plain music ... i mean ... we are not a NEWS GUIDE blog that we give you a million updates of whats going on at this precise tiny-second, but we do make sure that what we document is at least for us of quality.

But anyway ... Back to whats important:

I won't say that i'm a BIG anime fan and all ... that is simply because i just don't seem to find the time to sit and watch ALL these series as much as i would want to ... taking in account that i would love giving much of my non-existent time to it. But this here (and a few other) releases kept my eye opened for a while.

The monster production studio MADHOUSE teamed up with MARVEL to produce 4 series of 4 different Marvel characters ... and the first two that are about to emerge are IRON MAN & WOLVERINE. Honestly ... I looked up on the Wolverine trailer first as i was much interested on that but really ... what i saw didn't make my views HOPEFUL (and 10000 other people that saw it will say the same! .. LOL!). But IRON MAN ... Now THIS I will be patiently waiting to see ... It just looks DOPE!

This collection sounds like tomorrow’s hits, today. Mike Diver 2009-10-09

'With pop still enjoying a purple patch of anti-disposability, initiated to some extent by the rise to prominence of producers like Xenomania and Richard X, there’s never been a better opportunity for London’s Taio Cruz to make his mark. And with his track Break Your Heart doing the business on the singles chart – it debuted at number one – this second album is perfectly timed.
Comprised of 11 original numbers and his Tinchy Stryder hook-up Take Me Back, all of which feature Cruz as at least a co-writer (befitting given his history as a songwriter for Will Young and current calling as a collaborator with the likes of Sugababes, Britney Spears and Cheryl Cole), Rokstarr bounces to a beat that feels fresh and vibrant. Even at its slowest moments – the glitchy RnB of Best Girl, the syrupy I’ll Never Love Again and Forever Love’s Vocoder-smoulder – this collection sounds like tomorrow’s hits, today.
That number one was written for Girl-Aloud-gone-solo Cole, but made its way back to Cruz after drawing a blank from the sometime talent show judge’s management team. And the result is one that’s gone some way to making Cruz into the star he is at present, the track a naggingly infectious, smooth-of-chorus affair with a vocal hook so sharp and barbed it’s a wonder one can think of anything else for a full ten minutes after it’s finished. As far as calling cards go, it’s up there with Sound of the Underground.
Not that Cruz hadn’t enjoyed chart success before now – last year saw Come On Girl make the top five, and its parent LP, Departure, went top 20 – but Rokstarr really marks his arrival as a pop force to be reckoned with, and will see many other artists flock to work with him. Dirty Picture, featuring US singer Ke$ha, is the kind of track Sugababes should be patching up their every difference ever for, and Only You takes the anthemic atmosphere of Take That at their most mother-and-daughter friendly and puts a neat contemporary RnB spin on proceedings.
With such a talent obviously crying out for attention, and rightly receiving it, there’s only really one question to end on: why, oh why, is the title spelled like that? Answers on a virtual postcard, please...'

I'm sure there are some not so great reviews out there but I'm hardly gonna post those now am I?

Taio cruz is currently one of the UK’s most in-demand songwriters and producers. He has a new album coming out before the end of the year but has still found time to pen songs for the likes of Leona Lewis, Shayne Ward and Alexandra Burke. We caught up with the young workaholic/music mogul at Island Records and talked all things pop and then some…

You are the CEO/founder of Rokstarr Music – what are the benefits of running your own label?
“I get a lot more creative control. I’ve signed a couple of producers to Rockstarr and some guys called The Arcade who are going to be very big. Also an artist called Carmichael who’s amazing - a white guy with the most soulful voice you’ve ever heard.”

You co-wrote Will Young’s Your Game, which won a BRIT in 2005 – what’s your view of award ceremonies?
“It’s recognition for what you’ve done but on the other side it’s just someone’s opinion. So if I have the Taio Cruz Awards, I’m going to give them to people I like. But getting awards is always good - I like my BRIT award in the house. Hopefully Tinchy wins his MOBOs and EMAs - I’ll have those too…”

How do you describe your music?

“I always say my music is pop. People are very visual and for good reason a lot of people will put me into an R&B category because I’m black and my voice is soulful. I listen to popular music - I listen to Jay-Z over Nas, or Biggie over 2Pac or Coldplay over a more obscure indie band. Hopefully they’ll eventually look past it and call me a pop artist, which is what I am.”

In keeping with the growing trend of musicians who also wear the producer’s hat – where do your priorities lie as an artist?
“I feel bad saying this to a degree - it almost feels like I’m saying I don’t want to see the fans but I do prefer being in the studio because I like being creative and making music. It’s good fun being on stage and seeing the reaction to your music, but I’m definitely more about producing the albums, writing the songs and singing.”

What’s the new album called?

“I was going to call it This Way Out because people always ask me ‘are you an RnB artist?’ I was hoping that this album would be the way out and that people would listen to the album and go ‘oh he does more than that - he’s a pop act.’ But I decided to call it Rockstarr.”

When does it drop in the UK and what styles can we expect to hear on the new record?

“We’re aiming to put it out in November. It’s going to be 50% dance-pop and the other half leans towards the bigger songs. Sort of more Coldplay-ish or like Take That’s album when they came back and had those big songs like Rule The World.”

Break Your Heart is the lead single – did you have fun shooting the video?

“It was such a hard day - loads of hot girls to kiss and speedboats, Aston Martins… I got to drive the speedboat for real - that’s really me driving that vehicle. It was 80 knots which is 100mph.”

You’ve been hired by Simon Cowell to produce Leona Lewis, Alexandra Burke and Shayne Ward – have you begun writing with any of them yet?

“Shayne came to my house and I did six songs for him. I’ve done a few new songs for Leona that they really like but you don’t really know until the end whether they’re going to go on the album. I wrote one song for Alexandra - I think her album is close now.”

You’ve also scored a top 3 UK hit single with Tinchy Stryder earlier this year – what would be your dream collaboration and why?
“It would have been Michael Jackson but that can’t happen now unfortunately. I really don’t have a dream collaboration. I’d like to work with anyone really talented, (puts on an American accent) - if they gonna go mad international, sell units, play mad stadiums, then I want to work with you.”

Who’s your favourite artist right now?

“Justin Timberlake is my favourite pop artist, Kanye’s my favourite rapper plus Drake - he’s awesome. Favourite indie bands are Coldplay and Snow Patrol. My favourite pop bands would be Take That, The Script and maybe OneRepublic.”

Who would you choose to produce a Taio Cruz album if you could ever allow such thing to happen?

“Wow, the whole album and I didn’t produce any of it? That’s insane… Quincy Jones?”

What do Katy Perry's #1 hit song "I Kissed a Girl", Backstreet Boys' #1 "I Want It That Way", Britney's #1 smash "One More Time", and Pink's #1 "So What" all have in common?

Martin Karl "Max Martin" Sandberg wrote or co-wrote all of these songs, and you've probably never even heard his name. He's an ASCAP-awarded and Grammy-nominated, Swedish music producer and songwriter, and while most of us have just been going about our normal daily lives, he's been in the studio working with some of the biggest names in music.

Since writing some of the most well-known pop songs in the 90's, the 00's saw Martin decide to change up his sound and begin to explore Rock music...

This led to songs such as Kelly Clarkson's smash "Since You Been Gone", Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold" and Pink's "Please Don't Leave Me".

Having not worked with Britney for quite a few years Martin, after being personally requested by Spears, then wrote and produced the suggestive "If U Seek Amy" for the 'Circus' album, which brought some of that 2009 electro-pop sound that radio listeners seem to be craving right now.

Currently Martin is in the studio with Britney, working on tracks for her next album, and also it's been reported that he's written some songs for the new Backstreet Boys album...

Maybe it's just me, but I'm guessing that this guy's still got more hits up his sleeves, and judging by the consistency with which his songs seem to chart (i.e. VERY HIGH) we may not have heard his greatest material yet...

Letter to The-Dream: UR LOSING UR TOUCH!

Let me start by saying that I thought The-Dream's first studio album, 'Love/Hate', was one of the most consistent and well written albums I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. There aren't many albums that I can just listen to from the start to the end, no problems, but this is one...

I can definitely say that I looked up to this guy as a songwriter and a musician, (not too sure about as a singer) but after placing a string of hit songs, including 'Umbrella', 'Moving Mountains', and 'Bed', he seemed to start to lose his Midas Touch...

I first became worried when I heard Gym Class Heroes' 'Cookie Jar' (I hated that song with a passion), which I thought sounded so watered down it was barely listenable, but the song done quite well... "Maybe I was being overly critical - What do you think?"

But then I heard 'Touch My Body'... (BTW: Is it just me or does Jamie Foxx's 'Just Like Me' sound exactly the same???)

Now again this song done well, but I think many of you clued-up individuals would agree that though the string of hits hadn't completely dried up, 'The-Dream' had peaked and now there was nowhere to go but down...

(Please don't mention the 'Love vs Money' album or 'Rockin that Thang', which I believe achieves precisely what 'Queen' must have been trying to achieve when they wrote 'Bohemian Rhapsody' - To write a song about absolutely nothing)

And as for 'Single Ladies'... Put that sh*t next to 'Umbrella'... Come on LOL that's just a decent song with a viral video!

Fast Forward to June 16, 2009... and 'Obsessed' by Mariah hits radio...

Which brings me nicely onto my point:

WTF!

Terius Hagert Youngdell Nash! Get back in the studio and we beg you please don't come out until you've forgotten everything you learned about music since 'Cookie Jar'! We just want to hear good music... It's not a crime... Guess we just thought you were the guy to deliver... You've obviously got an amazing talent for songwriting, so please don't waste it!!!

Or maybe, all those songs were really the best songs that you'll ever write and I'm just pissed cos I've got high expectations of you...

Who knows?

'Beat Again' by JLS is the current #1 in the UK single chart, kicking Cascada's cheesy 'Evacuate the Dancefloor' off on the 19th.

It's also #1 in the UK R&B chart, beating... wait for it... MJ's 'Man in the Mirror'

Quite an achievement even if it was first released 21 years ago!

The song was written by two UK songwriters called Wayne Hector and Steve Mac.

Wayne is one of the UK's most successful songwriters, and has written over 30 #1's. One of the duo's most notable credits is 'Flying Without Wings' by Westlife.

As close to a perfect pop song as you can hope to get...

In my opinion...

This song is weaaaaaaaaaaak!!! Since day 1, i've maintained that JLS are sorely lacking in a couple departments, and though I think they could be relatively successful, if I were launching them as an act I would make sure that they got in some serious practice before they even started recording an album.

There's just nothing to cling onto, the melodies don't seem to go anywhere, and there doesn't seem to be any climax.

Though I may be proven wrong I don't think this song would do very well in the states, so let's hope they don't try and take it over there...

I think that they could have made the song worlds better by just putting some meaningful words in, instead of all of those "oooooowooooo's" lol but hey i'm still learning, whereas Hector and Mac have proven hits under their belts. I'd just say it sounds very 90's...

JLS need a distinct sound...
